Dr. Jody Miller

Associate Professor, Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, University of Missouri-St. Louis

Jody Miller is Associate Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She received her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Southern California in 1996, and an M.A. in Women’s Studies in 1991 from The Ohio State University. Dr. Miller specializes in feminist theory and qualitative research methods. Her research focuses on situational aspects of gender, crime, and victimization, particularly among urban adolescents, youth gangs, and the commercial sex industry. She is the author of One of the Guys: Girls, Gangs and Gender (Oxford University Press, 2001), as well as numerous articles and chapters. She is currently completing a monograph on violence against urban African-American young women in St. Louis.
